Barack Obama was born on Auugust 4, 1961. He is from Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents named him barack because it means "one who is blessed." When Barack was four years old his parents divorced. Barack's father moved back to Kenya, where he was originnally from. Barack went to the renowed Punahou school, and graduated in 1967. Barack attended Occidental College, and after two years there he transferred to Columbia University in New York. He graduated from Columbia University in 1983. After graduating from Columbia University Barack went to Harvard Law School. At Harvard Barack was the first african-american president of the Harvard Law Review in the school's 104-year history. After grduating from Harvard Law School in 1991 Barack taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. He taught there from 1992 to 2004, when he was elected to the senate in November 2004 with 70% of the votes. In 1995 Barack's mother died of cancer. On October 18, 1992 Barack married Michelle Obama. They have had two kids Malia Ann Obama (born 1999), and Natasa (Sasha) Obama (born 2001). Barack was elected to the senate in November 2004, with about 70% of the votes. Barack is christian, and loves to play poker and basketball.
